On Saturday 7th September a crowd of people 8-10,000 strong united against abortion in London.
Medical professionals from around the world gathered at the Emmanuel Centre, Westminster as part of the Prolife Health Summit organised by March for Life UK.
Attendees heard from ex-abortion workers including former abortionist Dr Haywood Robinson, ex MSI abortion provider director Kevin Duffy and Army veteran Adam Smith-Connor who assisted in abortions. All spoke of their awakening to the damage abortion inflicts on both mother and child.
Prolife organisations who operate across the UK showcased their work to thousands of young people, families and seasoned supporters alike. In the afternoon the march united behind one banner which declared ‘Abortion isn’t Healthcare’, the theme for this year’s tenth anniversary event, as they processed through the streets.
In Parliament Square the crowd heard from post abortive father Angel Ceballos who grieved the abortion of his child, former abortionist Dr Haywood Robinson, co-director of March for Life UK Isabel Vaughan-Spruce and abortion twin survivor Claire Culwell who spoke movingly of how her 13 yr old mother ‘successfully’ aborted her twin whilst accidentally sparing Claire.
Leaders and representatives from various Christian denominations (including five Catholic bishops: Bishop John Sherrington, Bishop Peter Collins, Bishop John Keenan, Bishop Paul McAleenan and Bishop David Waller) attended the event and led prayer from the stage.
Quotes from speakers include:
Dr Haywood Robinson: ‘I was seduced into accepting the vain notion that I, as a physician, could take the life of an innocent human being. I was in denial of the basic science that clearly demonstrates that human life begins at conception.’
Claire Culwell: ‘Today you get to see the face, know the name and hear the experience of the aborted baby. When people talk about woman’s rights they’re forgetting something very important – I am not my birth mother’s body, I was a separate human being.’
Angel Ceballos: ‘The medical staff started using dehumanising terms for my child, calling him the ‘product’ as they pointed to him on the screen. I urge all men and women to do what I was scared to do back then and speak up for their unborn children.’
Isabel Vaughan-Spruce: ‘When the law fails to acknowledge the dignity of each and every human being it’s teaching citizens to only respect each other when it’s convenient . . . and we’re surprised that we have such discord in our country? There will never be peace in our country if we don’t first have peace in the womb and this must be upheld in law’.
