Honouring Courage: The Charlie Kirk Cup & Young UK Pro-Lifer of the Year Award
14th October 2025 – Today would have been Charlie Kirk’s 32nd birthday. While many knew Charlie for his bold opinions, those in the pro-life movement remember him for something even more enduring – his unwavering courage, compassion, and consistency in defending the unborn. Charlie stood firmly against abortion in the face of opposition, inspiring young people (and the not-so-young) across the world to do the same.
In recognition of this legacy, ten leading pro-life organisations across the UK have united to launch a new annual award: the Charlie Kirk Cup, given to the Young UK Pro-Lifer of the Year. This award not only commemorates Charlie’s passion but shines a light on the rising generation of pro-life leaders making an impact in their communities, universities, and across the nation.
Nominations flooded in from every corner of the UK. To be considered, nominees had to be between 16–32 years old, reside in the UK, and uphold the dignity of life before birth from the moment of conception. Each of the pro-life organisations shortlisted three candidates, and through collective voting, three outstanding individuals were selected. The award ceremony will take place in December.

A familiar face in Birmingham’s pro-life community, Bede has been instrumental in local efforts – from 40 Days for Life to serving as an MC for March for Life UK this year. As President of his university’s Pro-Life Society, Bede has mobilised fellow students, led powerful discussions, and consistently represented the movement with maturity and authenticity.
“I’m truly honoured and so flattered to be receiving this acknowledgement,” said Bede. “It’s my conviction that we must remain proactive, so that through the infinite love of Christ, a day shall come when every life is protected.”

At Manchester University, Barney serves as Treasurer of the Pro-Life Society – a position he’s held with remarkable integrity despite intense opposition. Facing disruption and hostility from pro-abortion activists, Barney’s response has always been one of calm strength and determination.
“In a university pro-life society, the more opposition you get, the stronger the voice of the voiceless. I’d really like to use this opportunity to encourage other students to join that voice too,” said Barney.

Also at Manchester University, Inge-Marie Botha, President of the Pro-Life Society, has shown tremendous bravery in the face of appalling abuse, intimidation, and personal threats. Despite the challenges, Inge has led with wisdom, grace, and resilience – a true testament to the strength of her convictions and the devotion she has for this mission.
“It’s such an unexpected honour to receive this award,” Inge said. “There are many young pro-lifers who do so much for this cause and deserve recognition. Leading a pro-life society comes with challenges, but I hope other students will see that every inconvenience or difficulty is worthwhile when we’re standing up for both mothers and their babies. I’m grateful to play even a small part in this very important cause.”
The sheer number of nominations was a clear sign of how alive and well the UK pro-life movement is among young people. Many who voted said it was nearly impossible to choose from such a dedicated group – a “problem” we’re happy to have!
At a time when youth culture is often shaped by fleeting trends and digital noise, it is deeply heartening to witness young people courageously speaking out with selfless conviction for those who cannot speak for themselves. These award recipients – and indeed all who were nominated – are shaping our culture in a way that will help those around them understand the compassion and consistency of the prolife perspective.
We hope this new annual award in Charlie Kirk’s name will not only honour those who serve but also spark new waves of faithful and courageous pro-life activity.
Congratulations to Inge-Marie, Barney, and Bede – and to all the young people across the UK who continue to stand for life. Even if your names aren’t recorded in this life, your dedication is written in the Book of Life and honoured by the One who calls each child by name.
